What’s going on here? Senator John Brueggeman is in bed with Forward Montana? What would you ask as a reporter, when a Republican State Senator starts to question the State Republican party in questioning voter registrations that a hardcore liberal leaning group was involved in? Well the first question I would ask – does the Senator have anything to do with the group?
’see, does the good Republican (I think not) Senator John Brueggeman have anything to do with Forward Montana – let the photos speak for themselves.
Republican Senator John Brueggeman with Democrat Michele Reinhart and special guest Matt Singer. NICE
Republican Senator John Brueggeman with the forward Montana welcoming committee.
David Sirota talking to Forward Montana about “political corruption” now I know this may be funny since he was the campaign adviser to the biggest corrupt politician that Montana has ever seen in modern times, Brian Schweitzer.
Matt Singer (Left in the West and also affiliated with “Progressive States Network”), David Sirota and Representative Diane Sands
These are the classy tee shirts that Forward Montana is selling to help the cause, I’m sure that John Brueggeman’s grandmother is quite proud of her grandson for supporting such upstanding language. I’m sure that all the voters of senate district 6 were well served and proud of their much respected “ha-ha” Senator.
What mother wouldn’t be proud of this daughter?
It sure would be nice if the reporters Montana would actually do their home work and ask the tough questions just – do you have any involvement with this group?
It would also be nice for those people running for office under the Republican title would be true Republicans instead of being wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Dear Senator Brueggeman,
Thank you for your service! Please come out of the closet and switch parties now, not after the election like Sam Kitzenberg did in the 2007 session.
Signed
Rocky Right.

he has seen how outraged montanans are at this bald-faced sham the republican leadership are trotting out as “concern for the integrity of the electorate.” everybody but brain-dead zombie bush/cheney supporters can see through the hypocritical lies perpetrated by your party. of course, he is distancing himself from the disgraceful and shameful tactics of the republican party. he probably wants to get elected.

Hey “Republicans”–
I just want to take credit for being the “Vote, F*cker” girl. Thanks for putting my picture up and theorizing that my mother is not proud of me. I can assure you that she is. She has dedicated her life, as a public health nurse, to helping the least fortunate in our society. My dad is also really proud! They both love that I value EVERY CITIZEN’S right to vote, and I work to make sure they can exercise that right. You know who else was extremely proud of me, when he was alive? My grandfather, Gene Glover. He fought in the Marines at Iwo Jima in WW2. He served his country in the guard all his life as a drill sergeant. And he was an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribe. He would be proud as a native american, a vet, and a grandfather that he helped raise a granddaughter who helps people exercise their right to vote, rather than challenge it.
What do your parents think of you?

How dare a Republican encourage youth voter turnout! Doesn’t he know Republicans do better when young people stay home on election day? The GOP has seriously misjudged their move here.
Oh, and I know many of the people in those photos, they are good people and do not deserve to be mocked. Also, you wish you had half the talent, energy and smarts as Matt Singer.

Way to go John!!! Keep it up!

Wow, imagine my shock that you wouldn’t keep my comment up. You guys are real free-speech advocates. You can dish it out but you can’t take it.

there is a volcano of anger out there about the republican tactic of trying to steal the people’s right to vote, rocky. it is building in pressure as it heats up far beneath the surface. this stupid move on the part of the republican leadership in montana should provide all of us with the moral courage and righteous anger to wipe out the GOP field in the coming election. i will enjoy watching your friends and the cockroaches who run this train wreck of a campaign slowly sink in the polls for the next four weeks.

[...] other news of the shortsighted, reckless and impertinent, “Right” in the Rockies goes off on one of their own today, attacking Sen. John Brueggeman of Polson who’s probably the brighest star on the MT GOP [...]

Sen. Brueggeman is proof that there are decent public servants along every point of the political spectrum. The right to vote is absolute. It is not a privilege and I am saddened that this kind of travesty is happening in the state that I care so deeply about. I am so proud of Sen. Brueggeman for his ability to see past partisan bullshit. That is what this needs to be about.

I just have to take a minute to let y’all know who else is proud of me… I kind of feel like getting called out on this blog is an award of some sort!… My republican grandparents on my mom’s side have always supported me and been proud. Shortly before he died my grandfather, a successful farmer garden-variety conservative, told me he voted dem in the last couple elections because “everyone has a right to a good education and access to healthcare.” it takes wisdom and compassion to take a stand like that, and I know that the other honorable and caring conservatives in my life are NOT proud of the way this party has behaved this week. But thanks for getting folks riled up and excited to hit the pavement for progressive causes! You couldn’t have picked a better time!

So I just thought it might be worth pointing out that those first two pictures are from a non-partisan candidate forum, at which there were other Republicans. Is Sen. Brueggeman not permitted to attend candidate forums now, because they’re put on by an organization you don’t agree with?
As it happens, I know when and where these pictures were taken, because I took them. While I happily provided them to Forward Montana for their use, I am not at all sure how you got them. Did someone at Forward Montana give you permission to use them? I know I didn’t.
Classy.

Alex,
Relax. I’m approving comments as quickly as possible. I have no interest in silencing your (very intelligent and thoughtful?) comments.

I am kind of suprised you guys would be critical of Senator Brueggeman’s effort to build a party that understands the need to actually talk to the “other side”.
Nothing will be accomplished if we, the republican party, don’t make efforts to build relationships and alliances with those in the opposite party. Isn’t that exactly the message McCain is running on?
What Sen. Brueggeman has accomplished in his short political career is more than any of his party counter parts who stand so far to the right they can accomplish exactly nothing.
As long as Sen. Brueggeman is a republican I know there is a place for me and that we can actually, once again, be the party that get’s it done, even if it means working with the other side of the aisle, heck, especially if it means working together. That’s what Montanan’s want, unless we do we’ll have the Brian’s of the state ruling it forever.
October 10, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Thanks for all your comments. I’m not quite sure what Brueggeman has accomplished except pandering to the extreme left – he only capitulates to the left and the left never moves to the right side on the republicans are the ones that move. Brueggeman ran as a republican just to get elected in the district. If he lived in Missoula he would run as a democrat.
